A:CtS Character Study [SIKA] by Tyshea A:CtS Character Study [SIKA] by Tyshea
Chasing the Sun is a fan-project that takes place before the events of Avatar: the Last Airbender. It's a darker story about human trafficking and the world of assassination during a time of war

This is a set of character studies, both of default outfits and body types/diversity.
I apologize for semi-nudity, but I don't really think it needs a mature filter

There's no comic (yet), we're just in the for-fun conceptualizing phase and will be for a while :)

--

This is my character, Sika.

A fire-bending dancer and showgirl, Sika is soft-spoken but has a young elegance about her.
She's skinny and prone to the cold, but very flexible and in control of her movements.
She identifies as female, and her older brother is Shii

And that's it for the main heroes!
I'll be working on other characters from this project throughout the week :)

She is positively gorgeous. Trans~ characters have always interested me and I've always wanted to make one myself, but felt I could never pull it off properly (I'm... almost too gender organized for it and it holds me back).

Thank you, I'm really happy you like her! :)

I honestly think being aware of your mentality is a good first step though. If you'd like some examples of well-written trans* characters, I'd be happy to link you some

Please! I'd love to be able to expand my mindset. I DO have an androgynous character, but I always end up using their actual gender when it comes to typing them up... But I'm learning!

Haha you got it! Hope you don't mind a link, but I just answered a really similar question on an art blog I run, so please check it out picturethisimaginethat.tumblr.…
There's a list of comic links in the first answer too :)

(also just a small thing, if you want to get started with trans* characters, it'd be good to unlearn using "actual" gender, but "assigned" gender. Saying "actual" implies that they're an extreme abnormality and ignores the fact that gender is a socially constructed idea for segregating people based on physical characteristics)

Ahhh, I know. I actually wrote back to you while it was very, very late at night/early in the morning. Pregnancy brain does not help!

c: but thank you highly for the link, it'll hopefully help plenty!
